Victory day

Every 30th of August Turkiye and Northern Cyprus celebrates Victory Day (also known as Turkish Armed Forces Day). It commemorates the decisive victory in the Battle of Dumlupınar on 30 August 1922. Following the battle, Greek military presence in Anatolia ended. Which meant the Turkish War of Independence was close to be done with a Turkish victory.

Photos below are from the Victory Day Parade held every year in Vatan Street, Istanbul. It is one of largest parades in the country alongside the parade and activities in Ankara, the capital. This special album can be thought as a continuation in photo series of national day parades that started with the ANZAC Day album previously. Enjoy!
